This year (i.e. current 6th grade) has a lot of kids from Mann and Key.

An increasing number go to Hardy each year. Some go Catholic, some move to Montgomery County. The ones who go private are often legacy. Mann especially has a lot of parents who grew up in NW DC and went to the DC privates themselves so their kids have an in.

About 30-40 kids from Mann have gone to Hardy. Last year, about 30-35 from Key went. That same cohort of kids was about 75 at one point, so it cuts in about half of those who peel off over time from 2-5th to Hardy. Who knows what is going to happen with the current classes with the covid year factored in changing decisions. Both schools have about 40 in their 5th grades now -- would assume some will peel off before Hardy.

There won't be many places to go this year, aside from Montgomery County and they are also distance learning. The privates have been inundated with applications.

30-40 kids from Mann have gone to Hardy over a period of like 2-3 years. I think it the most kids that have ever attended hardy from Mann is maybe 10-14 kids, max. And I don't think many are going this year.

Ask the schools, they will tell you the numbers. The numbers above for Mann seem low to me. signed Hardy and Mann parent However, what you want to figure out is what you are looking for in a school and a school community for your kid. What works for my kids may not work for yours.
