I'm super fat and live in SF - can I get the vaccine somewhere?

Anonymous
I read a post the other day where someone said their parents aren't being assertive in trying to get vaccinated - they're just waiting until they're reached out to. And I woke up this morning with the realization that I'm kind of doing that too.

So .... how do I go about TRYING to get vaccinated? I have health insurance, and other than being fat have no underlying conditions or jobs to get it now. Suggestions?

Try myturn.ca.gov. You can register to be notified when it’s your turn.

Check with your Nextdoor group and see where people are getting it. I’m in east bay and we’re able to sign up with our counties for vaccines when we qualify. I think Kaiser is supposed to notify us when they’re ready for us, but that doesn’t seem like the fastest route for us, according to friends and neighbors. Call and ask if your BMI counts as a risk factor to get you into an earlier group. Check with your insurance company or your GP for advice.

I think most of those resources would be more helpful than dcum, considering the rules in DC/VA/MD are probably not the same as SF.

Do you generally have an active social life or are you exposed to the public? Do you travel a lot? I mean, if not, why the rush?

I do not travel, currently work from home, and haven't seen a friend since March of 2020. But it would be nice to get together with my local SIL and brother, who because of their jobs, are getting vaccinated.

It's so insane how unorganized it all is. I will sign up to get notified - thanks!
