Expectant and Postpartum Moms
Anyone have suggestions as to where I could I could find maternity clothes (ideally inexpensively) for petites? The big issue is pants--I don't want to pay to get them hemmed!
Gap and Old Navy sell short length pants online--I've had good results with them. I haven't found any petite-specific tops, but just try a bunch of stuff on. Some are longer than others. I've also been surprised at how much longer of a shirt I am comfortable in now, not just for the belly coverage but for the expanding hip coverage. But some are still way too long for me!
mimi maternity had petites. I had a pair of petite cords from them this past winter that were GREAT
I second mimi-maternity for inexpensive clothes, and all of the pants come in short, regular, and long. I'm 5'1" and the length was fine, even for wearing flats.
PP here... I was confusing Mimi Maternity with Motherhood Maternity. Motherhood had great cords for under $30. Mimi has much nicer stuff, but it is also more expensive if I recall correctly.

In my previous pregnancy, I wore Gap capri pants as ankle pants (I'm 5'0").
I'm also petite and my problem has been finding pants that fit well around the thighs. I didn't gain much weight in my thighs during pregnancy and even size 0 pregnancy pants seem huge and don't fit right. FWIW, stay away from Ann Taylor Loft maternity. Their maternity pants seem to run extra huge around butt, thighs and even length compared to other companies. |

I found that Old Navy's short jeans were still pretty long on me (had to cuff them), and I'm on the taller side of petite - 5'4" (but long torso-ed).
I paid $10 the last time I had pants hemmed - definitely worth it to look neat at work. |
another vote for Motherhood's petite pants - the length works just right for me at 5'2" and the price is right (I hate spending more than $30 on a single piece of maternity clothes!)
Gap petite maternity worked like a charm.
do you mean gap maternity with ankle cut length? there is no gap petite maternity.
i'm 5'2'' but with a very short torso and longer legs. i have a pair of petite/short jeans from motherhood, which are a bit short on me. i can wear them with flats as long as i pull them down but if they ride up they're a little on the short side even in flats. i have a couple pairs of the short old navy jeans/pants and a pair of the ankle gap pants - all are a pretty good length. A little long in flats, but still wearable and a nice length with a low heel.
I was able to get one pair of black pants in petite at Pea in the Pod and Mimi respectively. A couple brands make petite jeans, like Seven, but, of course, they are pricey. Keep on theGap website and buy any petite pants as soon as you see them - they sell out really quickly.
Ditto the recommendation re Motherhood/Pea in the pod short-length pants - I had them in every color. Gap was ok, but I found the ankle length a little too short (I'm 5'3").
I'm 5 ft and though GAP worked fine but strangely enough motherhood were too short even for me.
Yes, that is what I meant. Sorry for the confusion. |
