Jabberu has a great concept. However we found the open style of the classrooms, curtains rather than doors and walls, challenging for the children and teachers. Spanish instruction and music can be overheard in the French class and vice versa. It is a very casual atmosphere, comfortable for the children but allows for much distraction.

This is Shelley from Jabberu. I wanted to respond to this feedback to hopefully clear up any questions other readers may have. I'm sorry that the design of our center didn't work for this poster; there have been occasional young children who are distracted by the curtains, but the great majority have not found it a problem. The center was designed this way to create a fun atmosphere and energy for the children - but steps were taken to address noise: only one "wall" of each classroom is a curtain and they are noise-reducing curtains, the other three are full height walls. And there is one classroom that is four complete walls. I'd also like to point out that this poster's description is specific only to our Bethesda center (and only certain times of the week) - there are no curtain dividers in Bethesda, Gaithersburg or Columbia.

I'd urge folks to schedule a free class to see how the center layout works for your child - I think you'll find that it isn't a problem at all, and in fact a great and fun language-learning experience!

You want to hear very clearly when you are learning a new language. Even you are not distracted by noise, it does bother you to get what the language sounds exactly.
