Expectant and Postpartum Moms
| Has anyone purchased travel insurance for international travel while pregnant? If so, I would love recommendations. Thanks! |
|
When I was considering trip insurance recently, I found Steve at tripinsurancestore.com to be very helpful. (Insuremytrip, com is another big site).
One thing you can do nowadays is buy "cancel for any reason"-- which gives you up to 80% back if you just decide you don't want to go, so you don't get into arguments about preexisting conditions or dr's advice. It costs about 50% more than regular trip insurance though... |
| Any recommendations for health insurance for international travel? |
| You should definitely check the policies since I do not think that most "trip cancelation insurance" will cover for pregnancy related cancelations. |
| Agree with 15:41. I spoke to a few travel insurance providers and reasons such as bed rest were considered normal and therefore not covered (even though I would have assumed from reading the policy they would be). As for health insurance, I checked with my provider and recall that the coverage out of country was sufficient that I didn't worry (we were visiting a country with excellent health services though so that may have factored in). |
| Consumer's reports has had some articles about how travel insurance is basically a scam and the companies will (unfortunately) make it virtually impossible to get any kind of a refund. |

I've been researching health insurance for traveling overseas when I'll be 33/34 weeks pregnant. I found this one that does not have pre-existing conditions exclusion and covers complications from pregnancy: http://www.hthtravelinsurance.com/1_benefits_exc.cfm
