McConnell's speech Saturday will be used in court to give political cover to judges/SCOTUS when Trump argues that he can't be sued over his official acts as President.

Good but the SOB is Teflon.

No something will get him. You can’t be that dirty and keep sliding by. If anything it will smack him down from ever running again.

I’m hoping he stays in court for the rest of his miserable life. It’s comical that his attorneys are getting successively worse. I guess he can’t afford good ones.

They'll probably reject the case on some manufactured issue with standing, or declare the case moot, or perhaps reject it based on issues of remedy.

Aren't both of those groups lead by FBI informers?

Unlikely to come to anything, because this law was specifically created for the Civil War, little used since then, so the defense can argue that it does not apply here.

They can try but the facts as outlined will pass Summary Judgment.

No, they won’t.

That’s an antiquated law, written for a different era. It’s an anachronism, it’s totally irrelevant today, just like the second amendment.

Right?

I am hoping he stays in jail, not court.

His actions have resulted in MANY deaths.

are you saying the conservative court is going to use legislative intent?

Congress knows how to repeal laws. They didn't. That says it all.

Nah, they will just say that the mob might be guilty, but Trump and Giuliani weren’t there. They are masters of intimation and making sure to not say anything explicitly incriminatory. People love to talk about how stupid and moronic Trump is, but is he? Really? Seems pretty smart to me to get to be President, move the country much closer to a banana republic, and then leave with no consequences.

Individuals bearing Confederate insignia did prevent him from doing his job. So yeah, it does tie back directly to the Civil War.

And just because a law is "little used" doesn't mean it become moot. It's a federal law with prescribed civil penalty relief.
