| My son is turning 2 soon and loves fire trucks. I would love to take him to a fire station- has anyone done this recently? any specific ones in the area you would recommend? |
| I had an actual party for my 4 year old at the Kensington fire station years ago. It was great. |
| I don’t think they’re doing this right now....covid, remember? Do it next year when he’s turning 3. |
It seems ideal for covid to me. Outdoors, air circulation, masks. I’m not sure they’re doing it but it’s not a crazy idea. |

This has a number to call. Good luck!

The ones I heard about pre-COVID were inside and the firefighters talked to the kids, gave a small tour, you played games in the space, they saw the fire truck, and then food and cake. It was 2.5 hours inside and close together. VERY irresponsible at this time. Imagine if a guest at the party had COVId and then a firefighter was exposed and then created contact vectors for anyone he / she helped? Seems like an unnecessary risk |
| What about a masked outdoor fire truck tour with just one parent and the kid, as a big birthday treat, rather than a party? When my kid was a toddler pre-covid and we walked past fire stations on quiet weekend morning, friendly firefighters invited us in. I bet if uou contacted them ahead of time, if there isn't a policy against it, they'd work with you on a more vivid safe bday outing. |

You could just walk your kid by a fire station and let them look from a distance. The fire station in Old Town Alexandri on Prince Street a is right on a very walkable street and they often have their bay doors open. Your kid could get a good look without getting close to anyone.
I doubt they are do I ng any kind of events but as long as you aren't getting close to anyone or blocking way it should be fine. It's a nice area for a walk. |
I mean, it’s doubtful the fire stations are doing thus right now. Would be very irresponsible of the fire stations. 3-4 is a great age for this anyway, so just wait till next year! |
Agree with this. Firefighters have to go into multiple people's homes each day. Kids can be carriers of Covid. Having a birthday party at a firehouse is not a smart idea right now. Your kid will be perfectly happy with a trip walking past a firehouse and getting a wave from a firefighter. Next year if he's still into the same thing you can see about having a party there. |
| Definitely not now. After this is all over, yes. Ours does a Breakfast with Santa event and lets you tour around, great time for everyone. |
