I know corn is a starchy vegetable, but what I am confused about is whether it's good for you in the same way that other vegetables are. If I serve it, does it count as one of my vegetables for the day? I love corn, but I stopped eatting it a couple of years ago when someone told me it wasn't really a good-for-you vegetable.
TIA! |
| I wouldn't stop eating it altogether if you enjoy it. But it's a pretty high calorie vegetable with low nutritional value. Plus, we have corn products in almost every processed food we eat (high fructose corn syrup for example). Eat it once a week or something like that, especially when it's in season. Corn is fine in a varied diet. |
| It's a grain, not one of the leafy green vegetables that are so good for you (spinahc, broccoli, asparagus, kale, stuff like that). It's certainly healthy, but you shoudl still try to have several leafy greens a day. |
Thanks, folks. As I expected.
