12 Year old son complains of breast pain

My son is 12 year old and he's complaining of breast pain (just one side left side). I see a little change in his nipple. I have a appt for him for Wed but am very worried. Is this sign of pupurity should i be worried?

Good thinking. It could certainly be a change related to puberty. Boys get breast symptoms, too. And girls often get one side developing first. I'm sure it's okay! Good luck.

You've seen your doctor, but I can say I went to the pediatrician for my 12 year old son just last month for the same thing. The pediatrician said it is a sign of puberty - certain estrogens in the body, so some breast puffiness - and this is (a) not uncommon (b) often in just one side and (c) will go away. I was much relieved, but also hope it is true. I'd be curious what you learned today.
