Haynes location(s)

this is a spin-off from the lottery thread--I was going to just post this there, but it feels like a hijack:

would you mind summarizing the story with the locations? are they moving?

They've begun a lease on a former DCPS building (the old Clark Elementary at Allison & Kansas, 2 blocks east of Georgia). The little kids (through third grade?) will be in this "new" building, and they'll be joined by high school students once Haynes has all its planned grades. Mid-age kids (4?-8th grade) will be in the Georgia Ave building.

There are two buses that go from near the Georgia Ave school and the Kansas Ave school: the 70 series (which go along Georgia Ave) and the 62/63 (which travels from Georgia at the metro station up Kansas & then to Takoma).

The new campus has a ton of open space--it's basically 1.5 city blocks, and it's also right by Sherman Circle and some other small parks. The playground is really not that great, though they have a tiny toddler playground which is behind a locked gate & at which we've only gazed.

I think grades three through eight will stay at the current campus.

PP is correct. Clark will host the High School (9-12) and the lower school (PS-2), and grades 3-8 will stay at the Georgia Avenue campus.
