EDP Futures U8 in MoCo

Anonymous
I am new to the area and to little kid’s soccer. Can anyone tell me about this league, format and length of games, field size, how serious is it taken, do the kids enjoy it, etc,

The team we are considering play in it and I would like opinions other than from the coach.

Thanks.

Yes, that’s where Maryland usually begins, and plenty U8s in Virginia play up on both boys and girls teams. There is no reason kids cannot begin learning how to play at a younger age, at least if they are smart and mature enough to deal with authority figures other than their parents and older teammates.

They play 90 minute games, 11v11 and there is travel to nearby states (north and south carolina) with showcases in florida

Ridiculous. There is plenty of talent in the local area, no need to travel outside the metro area. Showcases in Florida? I can't even.

That other poster is being a jerk. The real story is that all games are at Soccerplex, and it is 5v5 on pugg goals (no goalie). No refs either (the coaches ref). Typically each team will split in two and play two games at the same time against the opponent. It is more fun than competitive, and is a far cry from U9 (7v7 with real goals and goalies), but better than nothing.
