After DCPS Elementary

I know that a lot of parents choose not to continue with DCPS in Middle and High School. It's unfortunate, but the reality. Other than private schools, what public school counties in the area are these parents sending their kids to? I am not trying to stir up conflict and would appreciate genuine responses.

Isnt’t Hardy getting better? Are more people choosing to continue on to that MS and/or Deal?

We’re sending our kids to MacFarland. Realize if you aren’t a frequent commenter that the commentariat here isn’t that broadly representative of DC parents.

I don't think that is true anymore. Fewer students leave each year, and for 19-20, only about 600 students left DCPS between 5th and 6th, so that is just barely over 1% of the student population leaving before middle school.

Unless you are in upper NW, many, in fact most middle class kids leave DCPS during lower to mid elementary. They move to charters, private, or families move to burbs. Not many stay till 5th so your numbers above are really not accurate of the picture going on here. At least they are not accurate of EOTP schools.

To add that the exception might be Capitol Hill DCPS elementary schools

Hardy is arguably much better than deal due to size, etc.
