MSI and Covid

Were there any reported Covid outbreaks in MSI in the fall? Or is there any info about Covid outbreaks in youth soccer in the DMV in general?

MSI decided to suspend plater activities last November at some point because of the increase in cases in Maryland and MoCo.

Not sure if they have resumed anything yet.

Thanks. They seem to be getting ready for a spring season. When they suspended player activities was it due to Moco outbreaks or soccer-specific outbreaks? Do you know?

They didn't suspend player activities. That's false. There has been a winter season ongoing since early December.

I am aware of no soccer specific outbreaks. There was some press about a Potomac travel soccer team outbreak; it turned out the kids were hanging out together outside of soccer.

Quite to the contrary, I'm actually aware of quite a few examples where one kid or a coach was positive, but nobody else on the team got it. So, not zero risk, but extremely low outdoors. Stats across the country have backed this up.

This is a complete lie. MSI did not suspend any activities at all.

Also, MSI Academy (their travel team) has been doing Winter Training albeit with masks on.

Potomac Soccer did have a COVID case but it was traced to non-soccer related activities. There were a few COVID case at VA clubs though.

No. It’s Montgomery Soccer, Inc. It’s a large soccer club with approximately 20,000 kids playing in Rec, Select and Travel soccer.
