Class Warfare on DCUM

Why does every post on this forum deteriorate into an "us" vs. "them", "city" vs. "suburb", "public" vs. "private" debate? Regardless of the topic, it seems like no one person is safe from the class warfare on this site.
I live in Chevy Chase, DC. To some on this board I'm nothing but a suburban troglodyte while for others I'm a rich, stuck-up snob. I plan on sending my kids to public school because I think (like their parents) they'll have just as good a chance of getting into an Ivy with hard work and dedication as they would with "connections." I'm the worst of both worlds...the Madonna and the Whore. I can't win when it comes to DCUM. Oh, I'm a FT WOHM too. I let my DH look at porn and we go to church every Sunday. Let the arrows fly. |

And I go to church - and to the snarky pwecious poster - I do not pray to Jesus - and that was an entirely uncalled for remark - and gives all non-christians a bad name. Seriously? i feel you, op. what helps me is that i honestly believe that that is human nature, particularly when it is anonymous. people are simple thinkers, by and large, despite this rather impressive society we have constructed over a long time. people are also selfish thinkers--they will always be motivated to explain, rationalize, aggrandize themselves.
this helps me whenever i come across a particularly noxious thread on this forum. people will be people. |

| pp here again. i also this this board is like a great equalizer. poorer people feel free to let it fly at rich and so on. things they can't always do in real life but want to. in that way, i think boards like this are interesting and insightful. |

OP, to answer your question: some on DCUM/this area are about "my kid at any cost". What they don't realize is that they are so far off the mark and simply overcompensating for what they perceived to have happened to them as children. Really, if they/their children had any Emotional Intelligence ("what's that?!?!") whatsoever, it would be their answer! It's their problem, not yours. |
