Serious question. We need to fly to see a very sick parent and can't risk flying commercial and going through a big airport. Does anyone have experience chartering a plane from the DC area, and if so, which companies do you recommend? I found a company at our destination but was told it might be less expensive if found one based here.
Thanks in advance! |
| A company here can fly you there and back on the same jet/crew if you just need to pick someone up. Price is $1,000-3,000/hr depending on jet size. Depart from Leesburg Executive Airport. |
I can’t help from the DC area but a 6-8 passenger jet charter will be $4,000+ and hour. I haven’t seen anything at $3,000 or less. If you have tell me who you booked through so I can use them. |
| Why not just drive? Wayyyy cheaper and safer. |
| If it’s not too far linearair.com will give you immediate quote. I have no idea if their prices are competitive but will help you understand ballpark. |
I got a quote from them for AZ to DC and it was 15K |
Yes. I’m sure they haven’t thought of that. Thanks for coming out. |
I know someone who just did this from California to east coast and it was over $20K. |

Try this:

| Try Netjets out of Dulles. National airport is much more expensive because you need security onboard due to 9/11 requirements. |
Right, we have an 11 month old and a 3 year old. Even if we drove through the night, it would be miserable since the little one gets carsick. |
| Thanks, all. We found a good company called Elite Jets. Not based out of DC, but we can get a round trip for $35K, flying out of IAD. |
At that price, I’d drive with the car sick baby. |
$35K might be pocket change for them. |
| This thread is disgusting. Talk about privilege and conspicuous consumption! |
