When I lived in Baltimore, I used to go to the Charles for their Cinema Sundays program, which previewed a film and had discussion about it afterward. You also got coffee, tea, and bagels. Is there anything like it in the DC area?

The Avalon Theater in Chevy Chase has quite a few programs and I'd imagine the AFI Silver Theatre does as well.

I was a member of the Key Cinema Film club for a number of years, up until I had kids and I really enjoyed it. It originally started at the Key Cinema in Georgetown, then when the theatre closed the club moved to Arlington, then NW DC. It's now at the Avalon on Sunday mornings. My parents have been members since the beginning so I occasionally go when they aren't using their tix. Peter Brunette, the moderator, is very knowledgeable (he's also a film professor) and they usually have guest moderators as well.
