12 year old for her first period in November. She hasn’t had another since. I know it takes a while for most girls to become regular. Is it normal for it to be months before it comes back? What was your daughter’s experience with this? Thanks! |
Really normal! Same here. |
Same here - 13 yr old got 1x. A whole year has passed and nothing. Not sure if I should worry. |
Quite common.
But also, no chance she could be pregnant, right? If there's any concerns have her take a test. If not possible, I wouldn't worry about the irregularity itself. |
Great! Good to hear this is normal.
No possibility of pregnancy, thank god!! |
Just one other possibility - I thought I had my period when I was about 11. And then didn't get it again until I was 13.
In retrospect, having seen what a REAL period was - what really happened when I was 11 was I broke my hymen. I was jumping on a trampoline. So you might confirm with your daughter that she had fresh, red blood for at least two days, and thus it was actually a period. |
Yep, got my first period at age 11, and I recall not getting another for like six months (when I finally got my second, it was pretty heavy, just FYI). |
Yes, my 1st and 2nd were almost a year apart |
I think it was 4-6 months between my DD’s first two periods. She’s had it maybe 10 times in first 18 months. |
My sister got her first at like 12 I think and then didn’t have it again for probably 2 years. |
My daughter had 3 or 4 periods a year for the first two years, then she got into a pattern of every other month for quite a while before evening out. |
Yes, I remember getting mine pretty sporadically for the first two years. |
Thank you for posting. We were wondering when Period 2 might come. |
This is a good point and something I’d not thought of. For her, it was definitely a period. Complete with cramps and everything. |
My period was like that when I started at 12 years old. Got one and then nothing for a few months. I remember going the entire summer without it and so relieved! It was irregular probably the entire first year. |
