I’m looking to get a Ford Edge but indecisive on which color.
Is one harder to keep clean? Does one hold less heat? Does one have a better reflection of the sun while you’re driving? Any other advice is helpful. |
| Silver is easiest to keep clean |

Silver.
I have white, birds are always shitting on it. White road grime looks gross. |
|
When we had a small silver SUV it was like our car was invisible. Two people drove into the side of it, and I dodged many others who attempted it. I will never buy another silver car again.

| Wow! Yikes! I did hear silver blends in with the road more....so that leaves just black?! Lol white with grime seems gross. |

White, IMO, is always best for SUVs and vans.
Black shows dirt the most. Due to evolution, human eyes pick up on imperfections that are brighter than the base color, and all dirt is brighter than black, so you will notice everything. This is less so on white, since most dirt will be darker in color and your eyes are not as likely to notice them. Silver is indeed least noticeable for dirt because most dirt is "midtones" and simply blends in. That said, I always spend $99 for a tube of DIY ceramic coating after I purchase the car and wipe it on. This keeps the car fairly clean as the car "washes itself" during rain storms. My white van has been driven several hundred miles through salted roads and was covered in dirt and salt crystals. After the rain we had a couple of weeks ago, it looks clean again. I wash the van maybe once a year or two, just to break loose any dirt that is more stuck on. |
| Got it! Thank you for your insight. |
| I think a lighter brighter car is safer for visibility. I would chose white, silver, black in that order. |

Currently teaching a permitted driver and dark cars are more difficult to see.
I underestimated how many horrible drivers are out there until I started teaching a new driver. You may be a great driver but there are a huge number of dangerous, clueless ones out there. Give them the best chance you can to see you and avoid you. |
| That makes sense! Didn’t think of other drivers just not being able to see the car cuz it’s dark, especially if it’s in their blind spot. |
| I think white Fords look like rental cars so I would go with black or the charcoal. |
Interesting. I’ve heard that before! |
| Go with Silver. We had a black MDX and it was miserable. |
what happened to your black mdx? |
| Both white and black get dirty easily, but you should want to keep it clean like any car. If folks say silver invisible,‘I’d stick away from that |
