facts:
1. there is no vaccine approved for kids 2. the existing vaccines are from unknown to 95% effective, with most agreeing 95% effective is probably not realistic 3. They are recommending 4 masks vs 1. 4. corona seems to be becoming more transmissible, not less. What is going to happen to public schools? Will those who left public and went private - are they going to try to come back next 2021-22 to public schools. This may become a generation of kids not getting school. |
Yes, I think it will resume, but I think your question broaches an interesting question - how will it start to change shape and become different from what it was before? Here are some theories -Distance learning as an always available choice; some parents will not be okay sending their kids in -teachers will need to be given the most immunity possible with vaccines and regular boosters if they want to keep good people in in-person instruction -school districts will invest more money in PPE (duh) -parents may have to sign liability waivers when sending their kids in? Just some preliminary thoughts which, actually, seem pretty obvious so this wasn’t much of a contribution. Sorry. |
Are you just talking about this area? Because look around....
PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE OPEN IN VIRGINIA AND THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY!! we aren’t special, we are screwed up that we can’t make this work. There is no reason why we can’t be in school. |
Realistically, why must you start yet another post about the same tired subject? |
I think the OP is positing this as an intellectual exercise and not a political question. How will public education be permanently changed by the pandemic? |
Or maybe not. Sigh. |
This again?! |
I think we will be soon. I really do. |
I think school as we know it won’t be the same until the 22/23 school year. 21/22 will be open in hybrid imo. But very different from the way we know school. |
b-b-b-but FoLlOw ThE sCiEnCe seriously, where does this fearmongering come from? look at the data submitted for the actual FDA approval. it's 95%. it's just math. no conspiracy here. this just shows your extreme bias |
I actually see a lot of optimistic talk about the vaccines and their effectiveness, even against different variants. Cases are decreasing rapidly in the U.S. Hopefully that will continue. Then we won't be so worried about kids needing a vaccine before going to school. |
#2 is factually false. #3 is insane |
But there are public schools open as normal, just wearing masks. So it’s not permanently changed. |
Really? That’s your argument? |
I think OP is considering the arrival of new strains which would render the vaccine *as is* less effective. I imagine Pfizer and Moderna will start issuing boosters that combat the new strain, but schools would want to remain vigilant about getting those upgrades for staff members if they don’t want to face staff shortages again. |
