Hi, my dd (12) would love to read some fiction that featured LGBT storylines/characters. Looking at the YA books in this area I am struggling to establish which books maybe suitable for younger teens. I would appreciate any recommendations anyone may have. Thank you

| Boyfriend girlfriend relationships, you mean? |
Romances, crushes, coming out stories etc. She loved watching some movies like the Half of It, Happiest Season, Let it Snow recently that had lesbian storylines. She would love to find some books that had lesbian characters/ storylines too. |
| My girls loved Drum Roll Please, by Lisa Jenn Bigelow. I’d also recommend Ivy Aberdeen’s Letter to the World by Ashlee Blake and The Mighty Heart of Sunny St James, also by Ashlee Blake. |
| Thank you for these. I really appreciate the suggestions. If anyone has any books for middle schoolers with bi characters, that would be great. My daughter feels like “other” because there is gay and straight but she identifies as bi and doesn’t see those characters. |

You should see me in a crown
Aristotle and dante discover the secrets of the universe |
| Could also look for stonewall honor books for YA |
| Star Crossed by Barbara Dee features a bi girl. |

Here’s a list of YA books featuring bi characters. I’d look for reviews of the titles; some are definitely geared for older kids.

For a bi heroine, check out C.B. Lee’s Not Your Sidekick. https://cb-lee.com/books/sidekick-squad-series/not-your-sidekick/ |
