Nausea and depression

Anonymous
I am pregnant with my third and have really bad nausea. The nausea was bad with my first two as well but I don’t remember feeling this depressed and exhausted. I’m 38 and working from home due to covid. My kids, 6 and 4 are at home as well and so is DH. He’s been really helpful - basically has been doing everything since the nausea hit a week ago. So it’s not like I don’t have help. I don’t know what it is - maybe it’s the social isolation, the fact that the kids are at home... or maybe it’s because it seems like there is no end in sight. Or it could just be the nausea plain and simple or even the weather. I just feel like I made the wrong choice getting pregnant - not sure what I was thinking and generally feel depressed. My OB told me to take unisom and b6 for the nausea so I’m gonna try that tonight.

Zofran helped me for this

Unison is the best! I just hit 12 weeks and all of a sudden I feel like a million bucks. All nausea gone and I just feel better. Not hungry all the time and not irritable. Hang in there

10 weeks here and had really bad nausea from 7 weeks to now. I started taking half a unisom tablet at night and it has helped immensely. Got better sleep too. The nausea and constant isolation working at home with nowhere to go has also made me feel depressed- I also didn’t experience this with previous pregnancies. Hope your nausea improves and you start feeling better soon.

Make sure you get the Unisom that has the ingredient doxylamine- that’s the drug used in morning sickness studies.

Thank you PPs. I’m starting to feel better with the unisom. However it makes me extremely sleepy and I can’t get out of bed before 11 am. I end up working from 12-5 pm sometimes less but it’s the best I can do now The nausea isn’t completely gone - it’s back in the evenings unfortunately. I really hate this But hopefully in a month things will start looking better.

I’m pregnant with 3rd hyperemesis baby at age 37 and depressed as well. It’s no fun. I’m 28 weeks. I hate food and still throw up. I’m also anemic. Unisom is what works best for me. I get it in the form of diclegis and I take it all day. But it only takes an edge off. It’s just depressing to be stuck at home in bed with the constant feeling of being sick.
