It IS shocking, isn't it? I thought small businesses were supposed the backbone of the Republican Party. Well, the MAGA government has turned a blind eye to their cries for help. The Chamber of Commerce CEO recently sent a letter to the Trump administration begging for small businesses to be excluded from tariffs. No relief for you says the Trump administration!

In a letter sent to the Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Wednesday, Suzanne Clark, president and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, asks for an "automatic exclusion" from new tariffs for U.S. small businesses that import goods from abroad. Small businesses do not have the margin or capital reserves to survive an increase in tariffs, Clark wrote in the letter. "The Chamber requests the administration take immediate action to save America's small businesses and stave off a recession," she wrote.

The response from the Trump administration?

The White House on Thursday rebuffed an effort to give small U.S. business owners any immediate relief from tariffs, saying those companies would get economic relief from tax cuts that Congress is seeking to extend.

I’m so sorry for all the small business owners. They work so hard, day in, day out. They don’t deserve that. And a lot of them are MAGA. Just don’t get it.

And when the small businesses cut back or close down, the workers will be out of jobs.

It seems like the goal is to get factories back in America, but why destroy another segment of the economy? There’s got to be a way to target what they want to achieve without taking out small business.

They have an army of economists on govt to help them. They know how to do this.

The idea that manufacturing would be a significant source of job creation is just a boomer dream. Any new factories built would be near fully automated with the buk of the income generated for the SWE responsible for coding the automation.

Trying to understand the policy goal here. Because I don’t understand the means to achieve it at all.

Really the enemy of a return to US as a manufacturing powerhouse employeeing a large part of the population with good salaries is not China, but technology itself. These people think they can just do a Thing and it'll work itself out somehow. Pointless.

It's not a boomer dream, it is the fever rantings of a madman and cult leader.

Warren Buffett had a shareholder's meeting today and issued his strongest criticism yet of Trump's trade policy. But what does he know?

Trade should not be a weapon,” Buffett said at Berkshire Hathaway’s shareholder meeting, an annual gathering in front of thousands in Omaha, Nebraska. “I do think that the more prosperous the rest of the world becomes, it won’t be at our expense, the more prosperous we’ll become, and the safer we’ll feel, and your children will feel someday.”

Trade and tariffs “can be an act of war,” added the legendary investor. “And I think it’s led to bad things. Just the attitudes it’s brought out. In the United States, I mean, we should be looking to trade with the rest of the world and we should do what we do best and they should do what they do best.”

The lying is over the top. Is it dementia, denial, or just plain mendacity?

Please someone make it all make sense.

I already suspected this, but here's some proof.

Corporate America Is Leaving More Jobs Unfilled;
Most employers aren’t laying off workers, but many will pause hiring while the trade war plays out

Trump is tanking our economy to benefit himself. Follow the money and it all makes sense.

Anonymous wrote:Trump has claimed tariff negotiations with 200 countries, but doesn't name them. Navarros claimed they could get a deal done with 90 countries in 90 days...it is two weeks later and no deals announced. Trump claimed negotiations with China have started. Chain refutes that claim.

Face it, we are going to get to July and no deals will be struck, except maybe with the penguins, and our economy is going to roll off a cliff.

It’s almost as if there are no deals at all.

He’s going to get so desperate for a deal that he’ll be giving these countries better terms than they had before. And they all know it. They’ll just hold out until he’s totally flailing.
