Daycare moving and didn't tell us

Anonymous
My partner and I toured a daycare and decided to enroll our child there - we were happy with the director and the space, and the location is SUPER convenient for us. After we'd paid our deposit, we got an email letting us know that the daycare is moving locations this spring/summer, and it was clear that this move has been in the works for months. We were never told this was a possibility (or necessity, as it seems it may be a lease issue) and I'm trying to decide how annoyed I am. The new location is still doable but not nearly as convenient. What, if anything, would you say or do about this? We don't have any other options at the moment so I'm hesitant to make a big stink about it, but it does seem somewhat shady that they'd not tell us about this when we toured.

Annoying. But figure out what you want. Do you want to keep the spot? Then let it roll off your back.

They likely didn’t have the move finalized ... how inconvenient are we talking?

Businesses have lots of "plans" that don't turn out. Unless they had signed the new lease before you toured, they would have been irresponsible to tell you anything. I'm sure they were looking at a variety of spaces or maybe it all happened very quickly. In any event, take the space or don't. Move on.

+1 If it's still what you want remember daycares can close/change locations any time. They just happened to finalize it after you gave a deposit. If you find a better option, you could request the deposit back, but if this is a best option, no upside to complaining.
