Mom works in Georgetown, Dad in Logan Circle. Coming in from N Arlington, close to DC. Where else should we apply for our 4 year old who really needs in person pre-school next year after being home for the last year? We have applied to Little Folks School, School for Friends, and some places in Arlington. Any other ideas? NCRC looks great but seems a bit far for us. |
I don’t have personal experience but saw a post on MONA recently for St Johns episcopal in Georgetown saying it was wonderful and perused the website which looked like a really lovely Reggio program so just sharing! |
Huckleberry cheesecake in DuPont?
Maybe too far out of the way but worth a look. https://www.huckleberrycheesecake.com/ |
The DCJCCis right near Logan. Jewish focus but more cultural than religious |
I would keep kid near home, not work. I find it’s always more convenient to have kiddo near home, and particularly now with WFH. |
This. Does either parent ever work from home? Does one parent ever travel? Is there a scenario where parents might be home and kid in school? If so, you’ll be glad that daycare is near home. I’ve had daycare on my commute, near my office, and near my home. My strong preference is for it to be near home, but when it was near my office, I never worried about being late. |
I loved Little Beginnings in Arlington, and they let you park there and you can just walk to the Clarendon metro. |
Country Day School is great and has been in-person since this Fall. |
Little Ambassadors is amazing, and I'd highly recommend applying if you haven't alreqdy. We both live in Arlington and work in DC (at least in pre-COVID times) and the location hasn't been an issue for us. And because we've been working from home the last 10 months, I'm especially glad our child is at a preschool closer to home than to work.
If you're open to bilingual preschools, Early Steps Bilingual has campuses right by the Courthouse metro and in Georgetown. |
JCC on 16th and Q! It's been really great this year (we're not Jewish and don't find it overly religious) |
Also just to add that JCC has some open spots now, in case you are looking to start now because they just got permission to add one or two spots to each class |
+1 |
From Arlington to Georgetown, St. Patrick's Episcopal Day School is right on the way. |
