I am trying to think of logistics after they done the emission test , Should I open windows and drive with open windows although it is cold , should I wipe down my chairs and wheel , seat belt ? I am not sure if there will be time for me to wipe down once they bring car out ? If you done emission / safety inspection test with someone driving your car , pease share steps you took to “ decontaminate “?
I am wearing blue mask should I wear double ? I have weak immune system so have to be super careful. |
| Just wipe down the hard surfaces with an alcohol based wipe. Then yes, ride for a few blocks with the windows down (it is not dangerously cold if you are anywhere near DC) and you'll be fine. Keep your mask on until you're done with the airing out. |
| Wear a mask and make sure the tester is wearing a mask, use a wipe on steering wheel afterward, open windows for a short time once you're back in, and wash hands when you get home. |
+1 Exactly this. |

All they do is drive it a few feet and plug into the OBD-2 port under the dash.
What’s the concern? Just wipe it down with hand sanitizer on the steering wheel, gear shift and door handle. It’s not like they’re living in the car for a month blowing their nose on everything, JFC! |
How old is your car? Newer ones you can do the test yourself in Maryland. It is really easy. https://mva.maryland.gov/Documents/KioskFlyer2016.pdf |
| Just call and get an extension. |
| It will be fine, OP. The thing to do is drive with your windows open for maybe 5 minutes after. Then you'll be good to go. |
