| Why? Why open indoor dining, which is known to be one of the riskiest activities, right as schools are scheduled to begin hybrid learning? What are they thinking? |
|
It’s about the money.
People pay property taxes regardless of whether school is in-person or not. The city doesn’t lose a lot, if any, money by not having in-person school. The city DOES lose out on tax dollars when restaurants are closed or have less business. As always, follow the money. |
| Its so dumb but I wonder if they’re thinking that people are going to revolt if they don’t relax rules a little. |
I would think it more likely that people are going to revolt if schools fail to open again, or open and have to shut down quickly because cases spike again. |
| It will have deadly consequences. |
| If we were serious about fighting Covid, Mayor would order a fulll lockdown for the next two weeks to clear the air. |
| I'm so pissed about this... hoping people who have kids in school and teachers stay away from restaurants. |
| These stupid things are happening here in California too. The reason is lobbying. People in power are looking after their friends who give them money and help them get re-elected (or give them a high paying job that they don’t deserve if they don’t get in again). It’s as simple (and horrifying) as that. |
The simple answer is politics. |
| The timing does not help build trust in the government. |
Ugh no! Lockdowns are not the answer. Please feel free to stay home for two weeks and have a lockdown for your family. Mine is going to continue going out to playgrounds and safely patronizing businesses. |
| If schools can be open, so can restaurants. We need a full lock down. |
And, you are why schools are shut and covid continues to spread. |

They know businesses will go
Completely out of business and the economy will be crushed if they don’t reopen. They just couldn’t agree with Trump, so had to wait for Biden to be inaugurated. |
No, it doesn’t. I agree. |
