Bosch versus Kitchen Aid

Anonymous
For an upcoming kitchen renovation.

Thoughts?

I've settled on a Bosch dishwasher but stove and fridge still up for grabs. I like the KA design but Bosch seems slightly better. KA more likely to have appliances in stock while Bosch is backordered for a long time, but we can wait a few months if needed.

I've done two Bosch counter depth refrigerators and loved them both. Bosch is considered higher end than KA if you're thinking about resale.

I have a Bosch dishwasher that has been great for seven years. No problems at all.

And a Bosch range which has been a solid performer.

recent renovation:
I have a Kitchen Aid fridge
GE Monogram 6 burner Stove
Bosch dishwasher

We have had to have dishwasher repaired twice. (Once under warranty - once out of warranty)

I prefer kitchenaid dishwashers

I’ve had a kitchen aid DS for almost 20 years. Still runs great.

I have had a bad luck with Bosch dishwashers.

First one was making high pitch sound, apparently it is a known problem with Bosch, got it replaced by seller.
Second one was very quite but was laving dishes wet.

I have KitchedAid now and it runs great.

I think they're both fine and you should go with the design you like. I don't think one is more "high end" than the other and both have options at different prices. I also don't think they all need to match, they just need to look cohesive/purposeful.

I had one of the more expensive KA dishwashers and it only lasted 3 years. My Bosch is great so far, knock on wood. I like my Bosch range but it had to be repaired right after installation because we kept getting an error message. It's fine now.

I had a kitchenaid dishwasher that broke right away, and it broke so fast that we were in denial, like, are we using the wrong detergent....?

We got a bosch after that and it's been awesome. So I guess I'm a bosch appliance person now.

Look at a Beko fridge. It is a European brand newish to the US. Great quality, meets higher standards than US brands, and has awesome technology to keep food fresher longer. I got one recently and adore it.

How is service and getting parts? I had a "unique" European product once before and once I needed it fixed - I needed to dispose of it b/c no one in the state knew what to do.

These are only distributed by local appliance stores, and mine (also the subzero/Viking/etc dealer) says he sells more of them than anything else and that Beko has amazing customer service, way better than the big box store brands. Hope that proves to be true.

One cool thing, my new fridge has 4 doors and one of the compartments you can switch from fridge to freezer at will. This is a great thing for me as I have a bulk freezer in my garage, but a normal counter-depth fridge is a bit small for my house full of growing boys. I love being able to have the extra fridge space. It also doesn’t stick out as far as my CD Samsung or the Kitchenaids I looked at did.

I should also note the price was good, I paid around $2600 on sale. Comparable to big box brands and way less than Subzero. It is a huge brand in Europe, not a new company.

I am shopping dishwashers and facebooked the question recently. 1/3 of the comments were to tell me that their Bosch broke in difficult ways very quickly. Maybe not coincidentally, my boyfriend has Bosch that I despise. Less than a year into it, the spring broke, and if you are not completely careful when opening it, the door drops on your legs. We all (2 adults, 3 teens) have lost blood to it, which is why I'm not even considering it when looking for a new one for my place.
