Yowza! Just got one for the first time in a long time and it HURT. Medical assistant jabbed me in the upper arm and, man, it was painful (also, she seemed offended that I was a little tense--a needle was coming at me!!). Made me think I annoyed her previously or something, b/c she was not gentle.
It smarts, for sure. Hurts to lift my arm! Anyone else??? I know I needed one, for sure, but I'm hurtin' now. |
| Yeah, those sting...sorry OP. I can remember my last tetanus shot. In good news, you only need one about once every ten years, so perhaps you can try to mentally amortize the pain over that period..... |
| Now you now why the kids scream their freaking heads off whenever they get shots. That shite *hurts*. Maybe it's the aluminum. You also most likely had some diptheria in there, perhaps some pertussis, but that doesn't necessarily make the shot hurt more even if you did. I had an allergic reaction to a tetanus shot when I was young and the entirety of my upper arm turned very red, was raised and hurt for days. Note how long the shot you received is good for so that you don't have to get another until it's absolutely required. |
| That happened to me in 6th grade after a dog bite. Tetanus shot was much worse than the bite. But since then it has not been so bad. |
| I had one a year ago and it was bad... My arm actually got swollen/red/warm to touch for a couple of weeks. I went back to the Dr and he said it was normal, some people react more than others. Was that supposed to make me feel better? It didn't. |
| You should get anthrax--that sucker REALLY hurts. |
|
OP here--still hurts--like someone pummeled my arm in the ring or something. Better than getting tetanus, though.
Did I mention that they also withdrew an insane amount of blood at the same visit????? (I'm having issues.) Mama's in pain. |
| Some providers seem to be better than others. I was SHOCKED that my last shot (tetnus) didn't hurt -- I'm a wimp. My daughter's ped was the one to provide it, and now I know why she doesn't cry when she gets shots. I didn't know provider could make such a big difference. |
| Just last night, I gently touched my friend's arm and she jumped back, because she had just gotten a tetanus shot! |
|
They all hurt the same.
Some Mamas are strong and can take it. Others, sadly, are weak. Shame on you, Mamas who are weak!!! |
| I get the tetanus shot in the arm that I don't write with. I think it's a thick serum and it doesn't sting - it ACHES.... |
Not true. Tetanus shots hurt a lot more than many others for at least the first 24 hours. http://www.wisegeek.com/why-does-the-tetanus-vaccine-hurt-so-much.htm Sorry, OP. Tetanus shots suck. |
I'm OP, and you're off your meds. |
