Trump trades in wives every decade. Melania's warranty has expired. The only reason he kept her is because he couldn't be seen as the first President to divorce his First Lady in office and it was already a huge scandal that he slept with a prostitute while she was pregnant. His base is fervent Christians and Evangelicals. Even that's a bit much for them to just ignore. |

Turns out they're being persecuted and he's the only one who listens to them. Yes, she has been ready since she renegotiated her post-nuptials in 2017 before she moved from New York Trump Tower to the White House (using the leverage of being "separated" from his wife over the post-nuptials to really make him give her real money). She will stay as long as it is financially profitable for her and Barron. At the first sign of any financial weakness, she'll serve him the papers. That means if there is any chance that his financial backers are going to call the major loans he has out or if he has problems. It's possible that with the news from Deutsche Bank and Signature Banks, that that may be enough and she'll do it after they leave the White House, but my guess is that she'll bide her time. She's going to hold out as long as possible, because I'm sure that the older Barron is, the more secure his portion of the Trump legacy will be. She doesn't want Barron to be cheated out of his portion like others in the family have been. |

The one caveat is Barron's security. As a former First Lady or widow, key language there, Melania is entitled to Secret Service protection for life. As a divorcee she loses that protection. Barron is entitled to it until the age of 18 (2 years from now) or if Biden extends it - beyond that.
