Are there any coding camps that were well done in 2020 that anyone would recommend this summer? For a 13 year old boy who wants to learn actual code and not the drag and drop stuff he’s been learning.
Thanks!! |
Tynker has all kinds of options. I think they still had openings as of last week.
We have had the best experience with IDTech. Lavner was also pretty good.
Check out Capitol City Robotics/Capital City STEM- they have classes for middle school and high schoolers. Our daughter has been part of the competition robotics team for the last 2 years. https://www.capitolcitystem.com/
My neighbor runs a code ninjas branch that my child has been doing virtually, and it’s been awesome. You’d want to avoid scratch, obviously, but could sign up for Java or other languages.
My 14yo son likes Juni Learning and just finished their Python 3 sequence. It’s got a lot of coursework in computer programming so you won’t run out anytime soon. Instructors all quite good but there is a lot of rotation. However program is strong enough it doesn’t affect my child’s learning. We plan on another year or two of classes this way
