OB/GYN referral

Anonymous
Hi all, I'm moving to DC from Houston next month but I am in the middle of fertility treatments at my local clinic. I would like to continue on with my clinic here in Houston, but I need to find a OB/GYN to do my monitoring and bloodwork in DC, then continue you on with this doc in DC if I achieve pregnancy. I am looking for a doc that is affiliated with a hospital that has a level 3 NICU. A DC friend suggested I post on here to get recommendations. My husband's colleague suggested Georgetown.

Where are you moving to in "DC"? Depending on where you live - recommendations will differ as it could take you a bit of time to get to an office.

OB/GYN don't usually do the monitoring and blood work needed during an IVF cycle so you may need to find a satellite infertility clinic. If you are moving to McLean you could use a number of places, washington fertility, Dominion Fertility, GIVF, or shady Grove for monitoring.

Shady Grove Fertility will do the monitoring for you, and you probably want monitoring done by fertility specialist. For example, they will do multiple early ultrasounds and careful measurements. A regular OB will do one. Look for a heartbeat and tell you to come back in a month. Shady Grove's ultrasounds are WAY better than what most OBs have.

If you want access to a good NICU, go with Georgetown. I used Dr. Colea who is the high risk OB and love him. Regular OB who finally delivered by DS was also good. And, I really liked the Doc I saw for my last regular GYN appt.

You may want to post on the expecting moms forum to see if you get any more leads. My experience is that many OBs don't get same day blood work, so you have to go through an RE, but there may be some OBs in Northern Virginia who get the same day blood work.
