Elrich statement on vaccine distribution

Credit to where it’s due for administering these vaccines quickly and efficiently. It looks like the county gets weekly batches of vaccines and administers 100% of them before the next batch comes and the county leads the rest of the state in that department. Hogan however has been a colossal failure and spends more time campaigning for 2024 than ramping up vaccine distribution.

However, I’m not quite sure I follow the logic for the groups of eligibility and the overlap between second doses for the first group and first doses for the next group.

As a side note, Elrich looks... old and exhausted. I did vote for him but it’s time to retire.

Maybe you didn't know, when you voted for him in 2018, that it's a four-year term? Or maybe you didn't know how old he was when you voted for him in 2018? Otherwise your statement doesn't make sense.

How is it Hogan’s fault? There are only so many doses to go around, it seems like MoCo gets its supply, and when it’s gone they wait for more, just like every other county. Elrich is doing a good job of getting the vaccines distributed. Of course we all want more vaccines, but if you want to blame someone, blame Trump for not putting together a plan.

The Hogan administration decides what MoCo's supply is.

Well, as it turns out, MoCo seems to have screwed up its last request from the state. They didn't put in any dates of clinics and asked "for the next week" so it was filled the next week. They then tried to blame the state and adamantly argued they had the dates in the email when they didn't. Bethesda Beat had an article on it.

But what does it say about the state of things in Maryland/MoCo's vaccine distribution that this is even an issue? Seriously, a goof in an email where one county employee wasn't clear enough led to this? We don't have a better system? Why is it even in email and not a more sophisticated request system where you can select dates and amounts and submit online?

At bottom, who cares whose fault it is. Just get your act together. While clearly there is a colossal failure at the federal level, even with the current situation, other states are putting us to shame.

Totally true, I was out west last week and saw how Arizona is handling their immunizations and this is from a state that has not performed well with COVID infections. They are offering 24x7 immunization and are rolling it out to 800 pharmacies. Why this is not happening here is beyond me, it makes complete sense. I'm not in a category for priority, but I'd certainly show up at 3:00am for an opportunity.

And why are they having 4 Giant sites do 50(?) shots a day? The administrative meetings taking place, and distro logistics for such a small number of shots to several sites....

How about 1 daily site--with all 200 shots (50*4) in the same place.

Drive up in your car.

Is there a source for vaccine distribution in Maryland? Just saw Montgomery county official complained on TV that they got far fewer doses than other counties. Does Hogan punishes Montgomery county? What about PG county? They complained that people from MoCo went there to get it.
