What to Think of New COVID Variants?

First the UK variant, and now the South American variant, which some early reports say is resistant to the existing vaccines.

What do we make of this?!

I think its not good.

Viruses mutate. It’s what they do. There’s no evidence that they are resistant to the vaccines.

I’m hearing people I know who got it “from the grocery store” now. So I think things that used to be safe are riskier. It’s not just put in your mask and run your errands anymore.

I really do think this will be all interesting to find out eventually. It’s incredibly sad the lives lost with this virus, and the lives ruined with financial distress - there is no denying that. But I’m growing more and more skeptical of what information is disseminated to the public

Anyone shed any more light of these new variants and how widespread it already is ?

It's the Brazil variant that's scary. Hope the worry that it doesn't respond to antibodies turns out to be wrong.

I think some politicians are saying "open up" now because they had been pinning their hopes on the vaccine but now with the botched roll out and variants they realize there won't be a better time in the near future.
