Help! Registering a leased car

Hi everyone - at a loss on a DMV process so thought I'd ask the knowledgeable crowd here.

I recently moved down to Virginia from New York, and am now trying to figure out how to register a leased car.

The process, as I understand it, is for the leasing company to send the original title to the DMV, as well as a power of attorney to the leasee (me). The confusion is that the DMV is asking me to send the title to a specific location and the leasing company (Volvo Financial in this case) will only do so if I sent the request via a standard form, obstensibly one provided by the DMV. I scoured the DMV website for said form, and cannot find it or anything resembling it. All this is complicated by the reality that the next DMV reservations is in probably in March, and given that I've already switched my insurance from NY, that NY will soon be looking for me to return my plates.

I imagine there's a ton of people trying to register out-of-state leased cars all the time. Has anyone gone through this process?
