Can I ask a stupid question? What happens now? Does she get a salary? How much would that be about? Does she have practice 3 nights a week, game on week ends and a full time job during the week? What does this life look like? Thanks

Same thing happens to grads of top-notch professional schools and Ivies. You gotta focus on the full journey, not the ride to the train station. Our toughest challenge is keeping new recruits focused on the longer haul. Most cannot or won't, especially many of the most talented. Let her enjoy it and figure this out for herself. I don't think real athletes are doing it for glamor or money any more than artists do it for glamor or money. You do it because you feel compelled to do it, not because you are supposed to do it. That can keep you going for a while.

she gets a salary- league maximum is 50k, league minimum is 20k, team can choose to pay stars more. If she's on the national team roster she gets an she gets more. It's not a financially rewarding life unless you make the USWNT

So would it be like a typical club training cycle...practice a few times a week and games on the weekend and I'm sure she'd hold down full time job during the week. It must be tough to find a FT that allows for athletes to travel for their games, etc. Need a VERY flexible job.

Good for her!

And the Spirit got the 2nd round pick, who's Dennis Rodman's daughter!

FCV has a U16 YNT player from Loudoun Soccer. Lots of great kids come out of Loudoun SC. They just don’t have the rep to retain them. Loudoun Soccer is FCVs pool.
