pre-school recommendations in Falls Church/McLean

Anonymous
We're hoping to send our three-year-old DS to preschool for two half days in September. We were initially looking at Sleepy Hollow in Annandale, but our commute has changed and we'd like to find something in the Falls Church / McLean area. Play-based with a focus on time spent outdoors would be ideal, if possible.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions you might have. Thank you!

In Falls Church - The Falls Church Episcopal Day school is amazing. As is Columbia Baptist.

Maybe look at Brooksfield School on Kirby Rd in McLean. It is the loose type of Montessori, so lots of free play in an open classroom. It has a strong nature/outdoors program. It rents space from an Episcopal church, but is not church-run.

Looks at Congressional School in Falls Church.

Any suggestions for preschools in McLean with a structured curriculum?

You are going to have a hard time finding a 2 day option for a 3 year old.

Trinity Presbyterian has two-day 3s, but they begin their application process in January/February for the following September. (As do most morning preschools.) Call to see if you can get on the waitlist.

There's St. Paul's Lutheran https://spl-preschool.org/ Rt. 7 and Idylwood

There's St. Luke's UMC Methodist near where Rt. 7 hits the beltway. it's supposed to reopen but for now is this:

We did not find any preschool in/near Tysons which was really willing to talk about their curriculum. They were all evasive and vague when we asked. Some said "montessori" without seeming to realize the wide range of variance within Montessori schools.

A colleague suggested Academy for Christian Education in Reston, which is happy to talk about their curriculum in detail. They start at age 2. For K and preschool, the only religion is bible stories (Noah's Ark, etc). We could not make the commute logistics work, unfortunately.

We ended up at Lewinsville Montessori. We had modest expectations, but have been happily surprised - as it is much better than we expected. Worth a look see at least.
