Private & Independent Schools
| So, can anyone tell us what an acceptance letter looks like? When I was in college, a thin business sized envelope was a rejection or wait list. A thick envelope or large manila envelope was an acceptance since they contained some enrollment forms, bumper sticker, etc. Is it the same for private school admissions? Or are all schools different? Do some schools admit students with just a thin envelope and one letter inside and send enrollment info later? |
| depends on the school. |
| check out the identical thread on this topic with the same name! from 2009 |
| Great idea PP. I never really read these boards too much last year. |
|
The main difference is that they usually say your child has been admitted to the school. It's usually not too difficult to interpret the letter.
But in the old thread that a pp mentioned there was a great comment about how acceptance letters are delivered by doves, etc. That would be another tip off. |
You sound just like my brother when he was about 15 years old! Thankfully, he grew out of that smart ass phase. |

She wasn't a smart ass. She was referring to the very funny thread.

| I read the other thread and I still could not find the answers to which schools have rejections vs. soft rejections and who has the true waitlists. Obviously, Sidwell was covered and I think Maret and Beauvoir. Do people have information on what "waitlist" means for other schools? |
Thanks for the link. I am the smart ass but wasn't smart enough to find that old thread. Even funnier than I remembered. |
| This is ridiculous. You will find out when you open the envelopes. This thread will only save you about the .5 second that it takes to rip it open. |
| Time to bump the limerick thread, which I also seem incapable of finding! LOVED the "smart ass" answer. |
|
| Landon's says "The Answer is Yes!" on the OUTSIDE of the envelope. No suspense there. |
Seriously? And Ed McMahon delivers you the envelope in person? |
| last year's thread was my favorite DCUM thread ever! |
