Food, Cooking, and Restaurants
I still can't understand why ANY kind of coffee bought at the gas station in Europe still tastes better that the coffee at the fanciest restaurants here .
Any hidden places, where I could have a cup of coffee in DC area which resemble coffee in Spain, for example? |
| are we talking coffee, espresso, cappuccino.... |
| OP here: Latte, cappucciino |

I think Pain Quotidian is much better than Starbucks in this regard.
How about Patisserie Poupon in Georgetown? |
| If you want to get a good latte or cappuccino, you will need to ask for at least a double shot. My favorite trick is to order a doppio macchiato at Starbucks. It comes out closer to a cappuccino than an actual cappuccion. The espresso itself at starbucks, however, is not my favorite. Illy is much better. |

Kafe Leopold in Georgetown is wonderful. They have Illy, Dallmayr, etc. I lived in Germany for several years and this is the closest thing I've been to that's like a real konditorei.

| You can buy Illy at Giant and make your own European cup of coffee. |
| An ethnic restaurant may also serve the cups of coffee you like. I buy Turkish and Morrocan coffee at Pasha in Kentlands. |
| Kiwi Cafe in N. Arlington will make you a long black. |
