I wanted to get this out of the "Jefferson Cup Canceled" thread to see if anyone had any comments on the field, the strength of the clubs involved, and how the brackets compare to prior years.

You want people to comment on the strength of all the clubs that are playing in Jeff Cup? What?

Besides Loudoun, the big DMV clubs aren't really represented here (no Arlington, McLean, Bethesda, SYC, etc..)

Ouch! VDA u15 boys are in the 3rd bracket.

VDA u15 and U16 aren’t that strong.

Alexandria in U13 is in same bracket as Loudoun.

Alexandria in U13 is in same bracket as Loudoun.

Is that a good match up?

Alexandria U13 is one of the best (if not the best) U13 boys team around.

Yes, that Loudoun core has been good for years as well and is also one of the best U13 teams around, with VDA in the mix as well. They are all really good. But Alexandria and Loudoun may not play if they don't get out of their sides of the bracket.

So why didn't they get top division?

Is this the latest/right brackets? Jeff cup tweet listed 12 teams in Championship bracket for u15 and these brackets only show 8 teams. Arlington ECNL listed in the tweet but not these brackets

Because the parent making these claims didn’t get to slot their team.

The boys showcase teams are up: https://www.gotsport.com/asp/directors/tournament/vieweventteamscleanb.asp?eventid=79389

Pretty average in the absence of the MLS Next teams.

With 12 teams by tier, I assume its is more of a showcase than a proper tournament.

I'm most interested in the U12 group because I've seen some of the teams involved. The top group is geographically diverse and contains three local clubs, but none of the most high profile (no Bethesda, McLean, Arlington, Pipeline, Alexandria, etc.). I'd like to see how Achilles, SYC, and SAC (to a lesser extent) perform against wider competition. But I have zero familiarity with the out of town clubs.

And further down in U12, I'm interested to see how the Paragon and PPA squads fare in Tier 3. That placement seems a little high to me, but am I underestimating those teams? Is it a weaker field in this age group? Those clubs don't have any other squads placed this high (Paragon's U15s are 4th tier and PPA U11s are in the 6th).
