Just moved here and trying to decide whether to enroll. How are things going? Both my kids have IEPs for speech and reading.

Check with the nearby principals - you might be able to find a spot at Tuckahoe/Discovery/Jamestown. Also there might still be time to get in the lottery for a countywide program. You still have options.

Is this a suggestion based on Nottingham's programs for students with IEPs or based on Nottingham's overall reputation?

What grade? We are at Nottingham, and there are tons of kids with IEPs in the 4th grade. Parents of kids with dyslexia seem to not be happy. I know a few who have pulled them out and gone private.

Far N. Arl schools try to write as many IEPs as possible b/c it gives them more staffing.

It’s not the most welcoming parent community, but the school is fine overall. Same level of IEP resistance/non-compliance you’ll find anywhere.

No way. They just load them all into one class. It’s easy to figure out which teacher has the “IEP class” in a given year.

We’ve been very happy with Nottingham. My kids don’t have IEPs, but they both have 504s and we’ve never had a problem getting them the accommodations they need. The current principal (whose been there for 2.5 years now) has a special education background and has done a lot to improve special education services at the school. Happy to answer any other questions you have.

That’s not true, you’re just unaware of all of the kids with IEPs in the classes that don’t have a special education assistant.

They tried that at nottingham with a first year teacher. It was such a disaster that now they have two of four classes for IEP.

Are there any kids at this school that don’t have IEPs or 504s?

Classy.

Incorrect.

Nottingham is one of the worst schools for students with IEPs. Ask me how I know. Avoid if you can - but if you already bought a house - it's not like you have many options.

Run. Run away fast. Dr. G or Dr. W or whatever she calls herself I think, hates kids with IEPs. She will deny as much as she can. even if you come with a good iep, she'll slow play implementation or say they are doing things they are not doing.

My kid is at another NARL school after escaping this particular horrible person and the IEP was expanded by the new school and they are providing an appropriate education. That didn't happen under Dr. G.
