Interesting enough this was released at Devos exit. All states received funding months ago, and some less than Virginia, but yet they opened in the fall. I can't help but wonder if local counties are utilizing these funds to get our kids back safely into the classroom or just sitting on it.I had empathy when I thought there were no funds, now what is the excuse why they didn't get schools ready over the summer. Now we are in a spike and I'm they know they will have to answer to the Feds soon why the money is not being used to open schools.....

There have been funds. Why did you think there weren't? |
They spent it on laptops and crappy software. |
They need to ensure proper Hepa filters and ventilation as well as equipment for social distancing are purchased and just talked about. APS has not laid off anyone sure funding helped self-pay staff stay employed like cafeteria workers and extended day staff. |
According to the FCPS budget meeting, they are trying to get rules relaxed so they can use extra CARES funding for teacher bonuses. While I know that very many teachers have worked their tails off this year to adapt (thank you hard-working teachers!), that money should be spent on HVAC, document cams, dome cameras for classrooms, and other things to make concurrent/in-person of some sort work. |
Once teachers are vaccinated we won't need those things. They should use the money for remediation/summer school. |
FEA is demanding no days of community spread and kids being vaccinated before opening... ![]() |
Will someone please explain the requirement to vaccinate kids? If every adult who wants a vaccine can get one, why would kids need to be vaccinated? This was in The NY Times yesterday:
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/12/health/coronavirus-immunity-future.html Read the article. I don’t think it is necessary for kids to be vaccinated for adults to be safe, but maybe I am missing something? |
“ The coronavirus is here to stay, but once most adults are immune — following natural infection or vaccination — the virus will be no more of a threat than the common cold, according to a study published in the journal Science on Tuesday.” |
After all of this, I will NEVER vote for an FEA endorsed candidate. It is political poison. |
You aren’t missing anything. The FEA just has some screws loose. |
Are we sure the FEA is real and not just a parody account? |
