Longest you've gone without washing your hair?

I read about a guide from 1952 that told women to wash theirs once a week. Can't imagine doing this myself, but it's a time-saving strategy.

A couple months after my first child was born. I was so overwhelmed.

Maybe 3-4 days max. It's even hard to stay on an every-other-day schedule for my hair.

A week

A few months. I was sick and in and out of the hospital and ... yeah, hair was the least of my concerns.

Depends on what kind of hair you have. My straight-haired young teen DD could probably wash hers twice a day. My hair is curly and tends toward dry. I wet and condition daily, but I’ve been told to wash it as little as possible. I wash it if I’m super sweaty, usually several times a week, but if I’m taking a break from working out I could go 2 weeks between washes. My super curly haired cousin washes once a month, and her hair looks great.

I’ve gone a week before on several occasions. It wasn’t pretty. But my hair is super dry - I routinely go 2-3 days.

A week, but I have dry curly hair. It doesn’t get oily or stinky. However I can only let it go that long if it’s straight—if it’s curly then it’ll just be a nest.

Two months while I was in the hospital recovering from an accident. Plates, pins, and screws all over my body. Unable to move or be moved.

A month, during winter in the Peace Corps in the Andes. I only had a solar shower in my village and it was just too cold. It did prove to me that the whole "no poo" thing was never going to work for me. There was no balance, I'm just a greaseball.

What happens (other than the looks)? Does it become awfully itchy? I am so tempted to keep putting it off, now that I am not going to work or anywhere really. But so far I haven't gone longer than 2-3 days.

Straight fine hair, used to wash every day in my youth. Now that I’m older I easily go for a week between shampoos. My hair is so much healthier now.

Just under 2 weeks. I had a broken ankle and it was a hassle just to bathe.

The more you wash your hair, the more oil your scalp makes.

I typically only use shampoo (cowash) once a week. I also water "wash" my hair mid-week to reset my curls.

This is truly dependent on your hair texture. I wash my hair only once a week. My hair is very curly and frizzy (mixed with black and white). After a week I start to itch it but there is no dandruff. However, there is visible product buildup.
