APS: Splitting hybrid and virtual classes Jan 15th

An email arrived today from our school notifying us that January 15th will be the last day of current class assignments. Classes are being readjusted into hybrid and virtual, and depending on your choice, your child may have a new teacher beginning January 19th.

The email also noted that a return to school date has yet to be determined.

I haven’t heard others taking about this email. Anyone else get it?

Our child is in first grade.

We knew this reshuffling was a possibility, but it seems very premature.

This is the very first I've heard. Not at our elementary.

I’m expecting notification soon from our school, especially about the major changes coming to the 3rd-5th plans.

Why is it a surprise? We were told upfront we would be in for a change.

Yes, we knew this was coming, but it seems odd without a return date set. The way the return date has been pushed back over and over, and with the case rate being high, it seems possible that hybrid could still be 2-3 months away.

Switching teachers without a determined return date just seems premature. Speaking for our family, our kid loves their teacher and she has been one positive constant through this tough time. It would be helpful to keep that going as long as possible.

If they are returning in person it has to be done, so they are just setting the pieces in motion so it is one less thing to do when hybrid starts.

I haven’t heard anything from our elementary either. I don’t know why OP won’t name the school, it’s like she’s the only one with a first grader. I’m usually very skeptical of posts that don’t name the school, but here’s hoping this one is for real.

Fleet family, are you saying that when your school called you to confirm your choice, you had an option to switch choices? We were told by our school there is no switching allowed.

Interesting. We are at Fleet and did not receive a call.

Seems like each school has the latitude to handle this in their own way? We didn’t receive a call either.
