Hi all,
I'm currently looking at an in-home daycare for my 8-month old son. The daycare is closed for two weeks in the summer and two weeks in the winter. Is that normal? I know daycare providers need vacation time, too, but I thought it was usually two weeks per year. Thanks in advance! |
Yes it’s normal. Ours pairs with other inhome daycares that you can use during the breaks |
Yes it's normal. |
Is the two weeks in the winter timed with Christmas/New Years, or in addition to that? |
normal! |
OP here. It's tied to Christmas and New Year. |
OP again. Thank you everyone for your replies. I really like what I've seen so far of this daycare, so I just wanted to check if it was normal or not. |
Ours usually does a two-week winter break and one-week spring break, in line with the FCPS breaks. Also all fed holidays. |
Yes definitely normal. Two weeks around the holidays and then two weeks of their choice another time in the year for ours plus federal holidays |
Normal |
Yes, it completely normal. They need breaks too. I can't imagine watching children all day long with only one or two weeks vacation a year, I would be completely burnt out. |
2 weeks EACH? I don't think thats normal at all! One week in the summer, one in the winter is what I think is normal |
2 weeks for each seems like a lot. My kids went to a home day care for years - the closed on federal holidays, one week in the summer, and for the period between christmas and new years. |
