Olney Schools on the Decline?

Anonymous
I'm curious if quality of Olney schools are going to take a hit in the near future? Home's in my parent's neighborhood in Aspen Hill, which feeds into Kennedy HS are now selling for $50,000-$100,000 more than SFH of similar size in Olney.

Location. Olney is far out.

Serious question - were Olney schools ever considered good?

Olney has seen tremendous growth. I doubt any housing markets in the immediate would be taking a hit.

I live in Aspen Hill and haven't noticed this. Think most people in Olney are staying put and there are just more houses currently selling in Aspen Hill.

I'd rather live in Olney than Aspen Hill.

All Olney/Sandy Spring schools have above average rating on GS,minus Sherwood which is a 5. Aspen Hill schools are horrible and have 3's and 4's.

Which neighborhood in Aspen Hill? The average price of a home in Aspen Hill is $374k.

Olney is $564k, Brookeville is $720k, and sandy spring/Ashton is $952k.

The Aspen Hill figure includes the sales of homes in Flower Valley and Manor Park that feed into Rockville High school which Increase the value of that area.

I'd not consider them "above" avg. They are typical avg schools for MCPS. Not good but not terribly bad either.

Not due to some decline in the housing market. Houses were selling for 40-50K over the asking price. Even on some main roads.
