Infertility Support and Discussion
| politics at my job are causing me to reach a boling point. what you used to be minor annoyances are becoming unbearable ongoing issues. i think about looking for another job, but what holds me back is that i have a FET scheduled in May. if that works, then it's probably not a good idea to start a new job pregnant. i'm thinking i should stick it out until i get the results of my FET, if positive for pregnancy, stay, go on maternity leave and then immediately look for a new job. i'd like to get some thoughts/advice. |

I'm in your same boat OP.
Waiting to get pg and make a switch after leave. Gl |
| I'd switch jobs if you find the right fit. Trying to find a new job while having an infant at home isn't that easy either., I imagine. And if the FET doesn't work then you'd have to wait longer to do another fresh cycle and then wait for that maternity leave. good luck w/whatever you decide. |
| I'd start looking and jump if you find a good opportunity. |
| I wouldn't want to look for a new job with an infant at home. Just my $0.02. It sounds like you are pretty miserable, so I would go ahead and make the change as soon as you can. |

If you are in the middle of fertility treatments, I'd highly recommend not putting the rest of your life on hold while you do it. You need to keep living the other parts of your life. If you think a new job is in order, then start looking. May is really not that far from now, but the time you get your resume out and start networking your Beta will be here.
You can make decisions about what to do "if" you are pregnant once you know you are. If you put everything off and then don't get pregnant, then you have one more thing to be kicking yourself over. Been there, done that. If the FET works, none of this will matter, but if it doesn't you want to keep moving on with your lift. |
| OP here, thanks! I know I can always count on my DC girls for good advice and support. I will start looking, I came across a job posting today that seemed to fit me so I will definitely apply. |
i totally agree. i spent two years of my life in two awful jobs (ha - i even switched jobs during ttc). i was miserable. and every single damn month "if i get pregnant...soon i can quit and not put up with this shit" (planning to be sahm)...but every month was a complete let down and i was even more stressed over the jobs and infertility. i finally just quit all together which was for the best for me. i did get pregnant and now am in a high risk pregnancy and am very glad/fortunate i am not having to deal with all of the work bs on top of the pregnancy. good luck. |
| OP--definitely pursue another job. Thinking positively (of course!), if things work out well with your FET, do you want to spend the next year or so at a job you are unhappy with? Totally not worth it. I switched jobs while TTC and ended up having to do IVF after only three months at my new job (that was supposed to include international travel). When I eventually had to explain to my boss that I couldn't travel because of treatment she was very reassuring and explained to me that managers understand there is a limited timeframe for having babies and are well aware when they hire women of certain ages that it is a very real possiblity they could get pregnant, which, she added, is just a regular part of life. Go for it! |
| OP again, i am definitely inspired to start looking. Thanks so much for your encouragement. |
