I'm 36 and we've been TTC for 3 months for our 1st with no luck (using OPKs to time intercourse). I know it's recommended to wait until 6 months of trying before seeking fertility help, but I'd rather not wait too long given my age.
Does anyone have recommendations for a RE that will do a fertility consult at this point? We're in MD close to DC. I looked into SGF but am a bit wary after hearing some negative reviews. |

I was happy with my SGF experience. People say it is like McDonald's and very factory like. I did not feel like that. I felt like my doctor was knowledgeable and gave me the options and did not push me towards anything. I had unexplained second infertility. Experienced a miscarriage in their care and they were great. Got pregnant two cycles later and had DD in 2018.
I used Dr Saffan but I heard he retired. Met with Levins (I think that was his name) once for an ultrasound when Dr Saffan was out. He was great. Dr. Malik did my D&C in Rockville. It was my only encounter with her but she was very professional |
| Dominion has a satellite office in Bethesda that's really convenient to access, and the main office is easy to reach in Arlington especially since COVID has diminished traffic. |
| I think most doctors will do a consult, but your insurance may not cover it until you have tried for 6 months. I would go ahead and make some calls...it took me about a month out to get an appointment at Shady Grove earlier this year and a few weeks for Dominion to have an opening on their schedule. It doesn’t hurt to do a few consults to find a doctor you like. I ultimately chose my clinic based on convenience. You can find people who loved and hated the same clinic on here...I think it has to do with whether or not they had a successful pregnancy. |
| You can just tell the RE you’ve been trying for 6 months. Insurance is not peeking in your bedroom. |
I went to Columbia Fertility and told them “six months” and they never questioned it. You’re smart to get started early, it took us a full two months to get all the testing scheduled and done. |
I can’t believe it. We used Dominion 23 years ago! Graduating college now. |
| I loved Dr. Abassi at Columbia. |
