Can’t find a covid test

Anonymous
My DDs daycare is requiring all children to get a negative PCR test prior to returning to school regardless of whether you traveled or not. I have been trying for a week to get an appointment but our pediatrician won’t test since there is no known exposure or symptoms and other locations are full for the next 2+ weeks. We were told on Dec 22 this was required and I’ve been trying to make an appointment since the 26th to no avail. We are in NOVA. Any recommendations on where to go? Our only other option is to not return until 2/1 when their self imposed requirement sunsets. I’m working in the office though so I really need care.

My DD is 3 so that’s another hurdle.

The do 3-day PCR testing covered by insurance, or same-day PCR testing for $195, possibly reimbursable by insurance.

This is the problem with everyone doing whatever over Christmas and all planning to test this week.

McLean Pharmacy does this. Also McLean Immediate Care.

Try Walgreens. They offer tests for 3+ now.

I believe Mclean Pharmacy also does testing but is expensive. McLean Immediate Care used to only do rapid testing but I would call them and ask. They are also expensive (It was $275 when we had to do it this Summer. Our insurance did reimburse us but kid was symptomatic).

Sorry, I think it was $175 not $275... They will tell you current pricing if you call though.

PM pediatrics will do it for anyone (adult or child) who is requesting one. I downloaded the app, talked to a doctor in ten minutes and was tested two days later. It was not a brain tickler and was easy. My dd and I both did one. They are in VA and Rockville.

Free testing at county libraries. Look on FCHD site.

Thank you all! I looked at many of these sites online and it seems like they are prioritizing those with symptoms or known exposure. I don’t disagree with them at all for doing that either! Do you just fib to get an earlier slot? I’ve been living in a bubble and didn’t realize it was this difficult. Looks like I’ll be taking next week off since it’s unlikely we get test results back in time.

Prestons pharmacy has openings this Tuesday at their location in merrifield. You can book online. You don’t need to have symptoms but you do need to pay $45 for the spot.

Insurance is legally required to reimburse you for Covid testing. Symptoms or not. McLean Pharmacy will direct bill your insurance. McLean Immediate Care will not.

The two in McLean don't care if you have symptoms.
