How long til antibiotics for strep start making me feel better?

This seems like a great place to post such a silly question. I'm day 2 of antibiotics now and wondering when they will kick in, my throat feels like it's on fire! Argh!

Your throat should feel at least somewhat better after 24 hours.

The last time I had strep I also had an upper respiratory infection too, however, so it's possible you have something else.

The last time I had strep, i thought it took a good 48 hours for my throat to feel less terrible. lots of lemon tea for you!

I agree with the PP that at least my experience has been that my throat started feeling considerably better within 24 hours. If it's been 48 and it's not any better, I'd call your doctor - maybe whatever strain of strep you have is not sensitive to the antibiotic they have you on. As if they did a culture (if they did, they should be able to tell you what antibiotic the strain is sensitive to by now). Feel better!
