Are programs still super limited due to Covid? We live in Alexandria, but I see a super enticing house in Petworth that I would love to buy. My problem is that I have full time child care within walking distance in Alexandria, and the idea of giving that up is killing me. If I was able to do DC public preschool I wouldn’t see an issue, but that’s not currently operating.
Tell me what my options are. |
Our DC based daycare has both limited capacity and a lot more kids over the preK age than usual because of people leaving their kids in daycare while in person pre k is closed. Our daughters class is the 3 and up (we're in Maryland so no universal preK) and it's full and there's no expectation that they'll even be moving kids to older classes anytime soon. |
DC centers are still limited re: how many kids we have. It was 8 kids plus 2 teachers. Now we just heard we can go to 12 people in a room: 10 children plus 2 teachers. But that's only 2 more kids in preschool classes (infant and toddler classes still need to keep a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio).
It's tough out there... not all centers in DC are open, not all have full day hours, etc. Call the centers in the area and see what they are saying re spaces. |
